THE STORY
Moments is the result of kindred spirits meeting: the pipa soloist Yang Jing from China and the percussionist Pierre Favre from Switzerland.
When Yang Jing heard Pierre Favre perform at the Beijing Jazz Festival in 1998, she immediately recognized her dreams in this rhythms: ” He played ideas, and they were so close to mine!”
Yang Jing felt that she had encountered a true poet at heart, someone who valued the mystery of space in music as much as she did.
After the concert, Yang Jing played for Pierre. He listened intently and realized that he could understand her music. He knew at that moment that Yang Jing was exceptional musician with a unique sense of how to combine sound and silence.
The two musicians gave a series of concerts in Beijing and Shanghai in the fall of the year 2000. All their concerts are improvised conversations.
Moments has been recorded during their performance at the “Keep In Touch Culture” in Beijing.
Moments is only the beginning of the musical story of Yang Jing and Pierre Favre.
